Kerry: Progress with Russia on Syria despite military doubts

VIENTIANE, Laos — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said advancement is being made with Russia on a potential military organization that could fortify a wavering détente in Syria in spite of grave questions communicated by the Pentagon and joint head of staff.

Speaking Tuesday subsequent to meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Laos, Kerry made no guarantees of accomplishment yet said he trusted exchanges with Russia could create a substantial result in the following week to 10 days.

"My trust would be that some place toward the beginning of August — the primary week or thereabouts, some place in there — we would be in a position to be capable stand up before you and let you know what we're ready to do with the trusts that it can have any kind of effect to the lives of individuals in Syria and to the course of the war," he said.
